How Athletic’s Can Change Your Life

Athletics hold a special place in my heart and played crucial roles in my personal development. What I love most about athletics is it forces me to face my greatest enemy everyday… myself. Growing up, I was fortunate to be immersed in multiple athletic endeavors such as tennis, tae-kwon-do, swimming, and gymnastics. Each of these activities acted as an outlet where I could continually improve my skills while constantly being challenged by those around me. I was part of a demonstration team with four other guys and we would choreograph fight scenes, gymnastic tricking, and board breaking scenes for schools and parades. We all shared a special bond and created a healthy growth environment where we were always pushing each other to reach the next level of excellence. Whether challenging each other to do backflips off a wall instead of the ground, incorporating swords into fight scenes, and even creating a ninja turtles demonstration for a birthday party. First off, I would have never attempted a regular backflip if it were not for those group of guys, much less one jumping off of a wall! I have them to thank for pushing me past my comfort zone and opening my eyes to what is possible. This was one of many moments that ignited an undying flame inside of me which gives me confidence to tackle any situation with discipline and innovation.

I am by no means suggesting that you go out and try to do backflips now, but I am strongly urging you to try something outside of your comfort zone. Get active, surround yourself with like-minded individuals, and focus on bettering yourself. We have one chance at this life, let’s make it count!

I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the subject!
