Chicago Marathon ππ₯
I had an amazing opportunity to help out as a medical student volunteer at the Chicago marathon this weekend. Records were broken, tears were shed, and never a shortage of joy and bear at the finish line. What an atmosphere to be around as we crowned the first American woman to run a marathon in less than 2 hours and 19 minutes. It is absolutely absurd the level of athleticism these athletes displayed and I can understand to a small extent their level of dedication and sacrifice. Watching these unique individuals break records inspires me to break my own records. My time as a volunteer this weekend was nothing short of spectacular. I was put into a team of 9 people "3 doctors, 3 nurses, and 3 medical records/scribes". Our team was unbelievable, everyone worked so well together and the quality of care we provided was just that much better. I've been literally studying my butt off these past two months and this weekend showed me why I'm working so hard. I'll be put in these situations in the future and I need to know exactly what to do to keep my patients safe. I was reminded today that only an amazing team can provide outstanding care. Regardless of where I find myself in life, the common theme of we>me continues to shine through. Let's try to break some records, their only purpose is to be broken!
